(Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
What it is:
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process by which adults become members of the
Roman Catholic Church.
The RCIA involves a series of liturgical celebrations, culminating in the full initation of people
at Easter, in preparation for faith journey and discuss various aspects of Roman Catholic Christianity.
The sessions:
The RCIA runs form October to April on a regular basis. The meetings will use a discussion group format.
Topics covered during the sessions will include:
Aspects of Catholic faith and practice
Response to questions
Thoughts, reflections, experiences
The RCIA is intended to be flexible, serving the needs and concerns of the participants.
Who is involved:
Those who have never been baptized in a Christian Church
Those who were baptized in a Roman Catholic Church, but who have not received the Holy
Eucharist or Confirmation.
Those who were baptized in another Christian Church variation
