- The food pantry is located at St. Martin de Porres Church, 3891 Richmond Road.
- The service is operated entirely by volunteers. 80 or more people are needed to monitor incoming calls,
maintain the pantry and deliver the hampers.
- FAMSAC is funded by the four sponsoring parishes, other local Churches and by donations from local businesses, industries,
service clubs, schools, Scouts, Guides, and concerned citizens.
- FAMSAC receives no funding from any level of government.
- Several local stores provide generous donations of day-old bread and pastry products.
- FAMSAC was organized in 1969 to provide emergency help to families in Bell's Corners in West Nepean.
- Today FAMSAC provides over 100 hampers each month to needy families on a year-round basis. At Christmas
about 300 special hampers are distributed, each containing a turkey, fresh produce and all the trimmings.
- FAMSAC is always in need of volunteers. If you are intersted in this important program please call 820-5428 and
leave your name and telephone number. Someone will get back to you.
- FAMSAC is a communtity service, operated by local volunteers and supported entirey within the community.
FAMSAC was nominated for and awarded the "volunteer organization of the year" by the Nepean Chamber of Commerce
and the City of Nepean on November 18, 1999.
In 2004, FAMSAC continues to deliver over 100 food hampers per month and distributed over 250 Christmas hampers in 2003.
This year many of our volunteers, some who have been with us for over 20 years, are planning to retire so we are in desperate need of new, strong volunteers in our numbers so these terrific folks can retire their services with a clear conscience and healthy limbs and backs.
To volunteer, please call 820-5428 and leave a message on the FAMSAC answering machine.
