Catholic Women's League of Canada
CWL of St. Martin de Porres Church
The CWL of St. Martin de Porres is an organization
of Catholic women at the Parish level.
We belong to a lay association of women across Canada
which was granted federal incorporation on Dec. 12,1923.
Our Council now meets on the last Monday of the month. As a member you will obtain a deeper appreciation of our faith and your role in life as a woman.
It also helps us to adapt and to change as individuals
and as members of a larger community.
All menbers play a definite role when attending meetings.
Every year we work on different projects that provide
assistance and financial help to our parish - Bazaar, Church Renovations
projects.
Schools - Bursary to a girl at the local high school,
seminarian support.
Missions - organizing clothing, toys etc. to be sent
to the Indian Reservations in western Canada.
Various charitable organizations - Breast Cancer Research,
Action Life, Miriam Centre, Birthright, Waupoos.
The patroness of the League is the Blessed Virgin Mary
under the title of Our Lady of Good Counsel. The League's crest, with its
cross, unbroken circle amd maple leaves is symbolic of constant service
ot God and Canada.
